Waste Fluid Pumping Stations For Workshops

A Tidy And Compact Solution…

Incorporating a Waste Fluid Pumping Station into a workshop set-up can make a big difference in managing the usually messy, unpleasant and time-consuming task of manual waste fluid handling.

The main purpose and big advantage of a waste fluid pumping station is having a tidy and compact solution for sucking waste oil and waste coolant from drain basins and fluid extraction units, and pumping the fluids to on-site waste oil & waste coolant storage tanks (more about storage tank solutions and compliance can be found here).

Advantages, Set-Up & Equipment

The pumps used in the stations are specialist waste fluid suction pumps and are available in both 1:1 and 5:1 ratios, meaning that pumping stations can be set up to suit both short-distance and long-distance piping runs to the waste tanks.

These specialist suction pumps are designed not to ‘race’, as racing the pump can cause cavitation when there is air in the suction side of the pump. Standard oil piston pumps do not have this feature and are not suitable for this application.

Waste fluids go through a strainer before going through the pump, which reduces the risk of foreign bodies causing damage to the pump. In the event of the strainer getting clogged, the strainer can be easily disassembled and cleaned out.

Pumping stations are often combined with our specially developed Level Alert System, which monitors waste tank levels and provides a warning indication when it is nearly full, allowing time for the tank to be emptied. The big advantage of incorporating this system is that when the tank is full it cuts off the pump at the pumping station to avoid overflowing the tank.

Not A One-Size-Fits-All Solution

Although there are certain pumping station combinations and configurations that are used more frequently – before we assemble a station, we first establish the requirements with the respective workshop to make sure that the best solution and set-up is going to be used for their specific needs. We often incorporate a pump unit in to a waste oil basin to provide a tidy all-in-one solution. From there we assemble the pumping station to suit the specific requirements of the application.
